Dexterous robot hands & grippers for sale

Multi-finger hands, tactile fingertips, and end-effectors for manipulation research and service robots.

The hand is where manipulation research lives or dies. When shopping secondhand, count the degrees of freedom and check the actuation type: tendon-driven hands are lighter and more human-like but need tendon maintenance; direct-drive fingers are bulkier but simpler to service. Tactile fingertip sensors are a major value-add — a hand with intact tactile sensing is worth meaningfully more than a blind one.

Compatibility is the trap. Hands mount to wrists via flanges that are rarely standardized across brands, and the control interface (CAN, EtherCAT, USB, or proprietary) has to match your arm controller. Ask the seller for the mounting pattern, voltage, and whether drivers exist for your software stack — a cheap hand you can't talk to is an expensive paperweight.

For fingertip sensors specifically, buy sealed/new when you can: tactile elements wear with contact cycles, and a used sensor of unknown history will give you noisy data. Sold as sets, fingertip sensors are a consumable — budget for spares.

Buying guide — FAQ

Tendon-driven vs direct-drive hands — which is better?

Tendon-driven hands are lighter and more anthropomorphic but need periodic tendon replacement. Direct-drive fingers are heavier and simpler to maintain. For research, match whatever your lab already supports.

Will a used hand fit my robot's arm?

Check the wrist mounting flange pattern, voltage, and control interface. Most humanoid wrists are not standardized, so confirm the exact mount before buying.

Are tactile fingertip sensors worth it?

If you're doing any contact-rich manipulation, yes — force feedback changes what's possible. Buy them sealed/new when possible, since tactile elements degrade with use.
