Robot cables, connectors & hardware

Wiring harnesses, connectors, fasteners, and shell parts — the small stuff that stops big repairs.

Nobody shops for cables until a cable stops their robot, and then it's the most important part in the building. Humanoid wiring harnesses are usually custom — proprietary connectors, specific lengths, shielding for noisy power electronics — so the used market is mostly useful when you find the exact harness for your platform. When you do, buy two.

For connectors and fasteners, the play is different: these are often standard parts (JST, Molex, metric titanium hardware) where third-party is completely fine. Don't overpay for a branded bag of screws — match the spec, not the logo.

Shell covers and cosmetic panels are the sleeper category. A scuffed research robot with intact mechanics becomes a presentable demo unit with replacement covers, and they're among the cheapest parts to ship.

Buying guide — FAQ

Can I use third-party cables and connectors?

For standard connectors (JST, Molex) and fasteners, yes — match the spec. For full wiring harnesses, OEM is safer: they're usually custom lengths with specific shielding.

Why are wiring harnesses so hard to find used?

They're platform-specific and usually replaced as part of larger assemblies. When you find the exact harness for your model, buy a spare — they fail from flex fatigue.

Are cosmetic shell parts worth replacing?

If the robot demos to customers or investors, yes — covers are cheap and transform perception. Mechanically it changes nothing, presentationally it changes everything.
